2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4X4

Jeep Wrangler the most capable and recognized vehicle in the world becomes even more capable both on and off road for 2012, courtesy of an all new, more fuel efficient and  powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine, and a new five-speed automatic transmission.

Equipped with Chrysler Group LLC’s new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, the power plant for the 2012 Jeep Wrangler is better both on and off road, with an 83 horsepower increase over the previous 3.8-liter V-6 engine. Torque also is up measurably, from 237 lb.-ft. to 260 lb.-ft. The new engine is easily the most powerful, best-performing engine ever offered in a Wrangler.

For the first time, there’s also a new five-speed automatic transmission that provides smoother shifting throughout the rpm range with shift and gear hunting virtually eliminated. The A580 five-speed automatic transmission is a first for the Wrangler and is ideally geared for smoother highway driving without compromising off-road capability.

The Sahara model includes a Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear axle. The two-speed, Command-Trac NV241 transfer case includes a 2.72 low range gear ratio. An available Trac-Lok limited-slip differential may be ordered for individuals needing more traction capability in environments such as sand, mud or snow. Also, a lower first gear ratio in the new automatic transmission gives the Wrangler more off-road capability via a lower overall crawl ratio.

Four wheel disc brakes with anti-lock are standard on all Jeep Wrangler models. As part of Jeep’s commitment to safety, electronic stability control (ESC) also is standard. Designed to work with the anti-lock brake system (ABS), the system includes sensors at all four wheels that are continually monitored, independently, for wheel slip, particularly on low friction surfaces including snow, ice, mud and wet pavement conditions. If wheel slip is detected, brakes are applied to ensure that wheel slip is reduced and the vehicle remains on its intended path.

The fully boxed frame features high strength steel in all critical areas and hydro formed sections of the front rails ensure a strong foundation for the front suspension load and crushable front rail tips. Rails are spaced to enable placement of the fuel tank between the rails, providing excellent impact integrity.

Wrangler’s signature features include classic round headlamps, a seven-slot grille, removable doors, exposed hinges, a fold-down windshield and innovative removable and convertible tops that allow Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to retain the brand’s coveted core values of freedom, adventure, mastery and authenticity.

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited interior highlights include an ergonomically designed instrument panel and plenty of storage areas with quality materials. A lockable console and door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points for elbows and Wrangler now features coat hooks.

A well-designed center stack is easy to reach and operate. Heated seats and heated power mirrors are available and drivers and passengers will enjoy automatic temperature controls as well as outstanding visibility courtesy of large rear windows.

The steering wheel includes controls that allow the driver to operate radio, cruise control, hands free phone and other vehicle functions while keeping their hands on the wheel. A USB device interface connects to storage devices for use with the vehicle’s stereo system, which includes Bluetooth streaming audio.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is available with an array of safety and security technology features. Standard electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Trailer-sway Control, Hill-start Assist and brake traction control are among two dozen available safety and security features. Jeep safety systems are engineered to improve handling and accident avoidance while providing occupant protection, allowing Jeep Wrangler customers the ability to safely go anywhere and do anything.

An innovative Uconnect Media Center offers a 6.5-inch touch-screen and voice command for convenient control of multiple media sources. Owners can create a personalized in-vehicle media experience with an auxiliary jack for MP3 player input, through a USB port for streaming music and device charging or with SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The Media Center also includes a hard drive where music and photos can be uploaded. In addition to navigation software and mapping, the hard drive holds tens of thousands of songs. Finally, for the driver who needs efficiency, a voice-memo recorder feature allows convenient reminders up to three minutes long.

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $31,045.00, the EPA fuel economy estimates 16 MPG city and 20 MPG highway.
