For 2019, The Yukon’s distinctive Denali models provide an exclusive collection of design, performance and upscale interior amenities.

Exterior
Bold styling and advanced technologies, including safety and security technologies, support Yukon’s greater capability, while a more comprehensive list of standard features is designed to broaden the appeal of one of the most popular full-size SUV. The distinctive Denali models deliver an exclusive package of design and performance.

GMC designers evolved the iconic Denali grille with a multidimensional, sculpted interpretation that, like other contemporary GMC elements, was designed in a layered manner. In addition to a more sophisticated appearance, the grille offers greater airflow to the radiator. Active aero shutters behind the grille close in certain conditions on the highway to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance efficiency.

Features such as power articulating running boards and a power liftgate enhance accessibility. The liftgate’s easy-to-operate assist feature is designed to help the operator by using the mass of the tailgate to almost open or close itself once the liftgate is past the halfway-open position.

Interior
Inside, the precisely crafted interior features a quiet cabin, authentic materials and premium infotainment choices. Examples include soft-touch instrument panel, console and door panel materials with French seam stitching and purposeful use of ambient lighting in functional areas, including first and second-row foot wells and the center console. All models have a standard Bose sound system, seats with dual-firmness foam and an ambient air vent designed to enhance comfort for front-seat passengers. Denali models feature active noise cancelation technology to make the interior quieter.

In addition, GMC’s IntelliLink system with an 8-inch-diagonal color touchscreen is compatible with Apple CarPlay, a phone integration technology which puts iPhone features on the display in a smart, simple manner. CarPlay makes it easy to connect to the feature’s smartphone users rely on most.

The features allow customers to display select apps onto and control them through the touchscreen interface of GMC’s IntelliLink system. Many features can be controlled via voice commands through a button on the steering wheel, helping drivers spend more time with eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Available on 2WD or 4WD models, the 2019 Yukon Denali Ultimate Black Edition includes the Open Road Package, which consists of a nine-month trial of Sirius XM and NavTraffic; power sunroof and rear-seat entertainment system; Power-Retractable Assist Steps; the Enhanced Security Package including door and liftgate lock shields, glass breakage sensors, interior motion detectors, self-powered horn and vertical movement sensors; and Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Automatic Braking.

Performance
Under the hood, the Yukon XL Denali will be powered by the 6.2L V-8 with direct injection, Active Fuel Management and continuously variable valve timing for increased efficiency while providing 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The engine is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission that further improves efficiency by reducing engine revolutions at highway speeds. These powertrain enhancements are complemented by Magnetic Ride Control, which uses sensors to read the road and can alter the damping rate of the shocks almost instantly. The combined power and torque, greater efficiency and composed ride provide a smooth and confident driving experience.

Summary
There’s an elevation in design and materials in the Yukon XL Denali interior that reflects GMC’s precision in craftsmanship, details such as high-quality stitching, multiple USB ports and seats designed for long-haul comfort are thoughtful elements.

The Estimated fuel economy is rated at 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway with the 6.2L V8 Ecotech Engine. Manufacturer’s suggested starting retail price is $69,300.00, the one I drove included the Denali Ultimate Package $8,080.00, Denali Ultimate Black Edition Package $1,000.00, and GVWR-7,500 LBS Included at no charge and it came in at $79,675.00 including destination charge $1,295.00.
